What do you stand for?

We get AMPED in less than a week!

It’s almost here!

After months of planning, meetings, and hard work, AMPED is almost here!  On Friday, January 18th, AMPED will start and a new generation of student leaders will have their time to shine!

If you have not signed up for AMPED, what are you waiting for?  Space is limited (there are only 14 spots left!), but the possibilities are unlimited.  What makes a good leader?  How do you stand out from the crowd?  What tools and skills do you need in order to succeed in leadership positions?  The AMPED conference is a conference run at Ryerson by residence students for residence students.

Leadership%20Header-01Residence is more than just a place to live.  It’s a place where leaders of tomorrow take their first steps.  It’s a community of unique individuals living together in the middle of downtown Toronto.  For some, it’s a second home.  For some, it’s even a second family.

I invite you to join us on Friday the 18th and Saturday the 19th.  I attended last year and had an amazing time.  It has changed the way that I think about leadership, the role of leaders, and how I view others.  Not bad for a weekend.

With hiring for the 2013-2014 Residence Life Staff (those RAs and ALs you’ve gotten to know so well this year) getting underway this is an excellent opportunity to see how we developed the leadership skills we developed.

I encourage you to sign up for AMPED, I encourage you to join us next weekend.  It is going to be a fantastic time!

Karina’s thoughts on Leadership

Leadership comes in many different forms- whether it be taking the lead in a school project, planning an outing for your friends, helping someone with their big idea or attending the AMPED 2013 leadership conference taking the lead feels good.

It’s never too late to take a step in the direction you want to go in and this conference is the perfect beginning. Last year I attended AMPED 2012 as a presenter and it was a fantastic experience. I got to meet some many motivated and hilarious people and I learned a lot about myself too!

And remember everyone; if you put the effort in we can be heroes, just for one day
